Robotics and First Lego League

Robotics and Coding go hand-in-hand. They build essential logical thinking, problem solving and technical skills for our students.Robotics, and the associated code,  lets students turn abstract ideas into working physical machines.

The Springfield Gardens Community STEM Club has the following equipment:

Four Lego® Spike Essentials kits. These are aimed at the younger students, up to grade 3. The Spike Essentials kit, along with specialised game kits which change each season, are used for First Lego League Discover category. Two of the four Spike Essential kits are kindly loaned to the club by GreenSTEM Education.

Seven Lego® Spike Prime kits.  These are used,  along with the seasonal game kits, for the First Lego League Challenge division. This is typically for students in grade 4 to grade 8. Five of our 7 Spike Prime kits are kindly loaned the club  by GreenSTEM Educatiion. We entered two teams in the 2025 FLL Hobart Regional and 2 teams are registered for the 2026 competition.
